This is horrible. A student reported a rape, and while it was being investigated, officers came across a warrant from 2003-a juvenile arrest for grand theft and burglary. Apparantly she still owed $4,585. The investigation was stopped and she was sent to jail. It gets worse. Before she the warrant was found, the police took her to a rape crisis center where she was given the morning after pill, PlanB. While she was in jail, she was denied the chance to take the second morning after pill, due to the religious objection of the jailer.
So basically she is being punished for reporting a rape. For something that she did when she was a minor- she has no criminal record as an adult. If she was pulled over for speeding, arrested for something else, ect. I could totally see how they would be justified in sending her to jail. This is soooooo vastly different though. She was raped. As in, it was not her fault and she should be protected.
Then she is denied the morning after pill! The same morning after pill that she was given by the police. I know that some pharmacies can decline to give someone the morning after pill-this is even more extreme and fucked up. How is that even legal?
Oy motherfuckin’ vey. I read this story earlier today, and it breaks my heart. What were the police thinking?
Sad! Disgusting! Sick
( Its a shame she did not take care of the outstanding criminal judgement in the past… technically this is legal. But it is still immoral…. especially over only $5000. Phew! I am getting emotional.
Incidentally…. that smiley was supposed to be a
