I have a hard time wading through such vitriolic sludge, and usually avoid AutoAdmit’s supposedly “prestigious” message boards, but I wanted to research the threats that were leveled at Feministe’s Jill Fillipovic. On that thread, which started in 2005, many of the posts are attributed to someone identifying as “Richy McBeef.” This was, of course, years before Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui’s play by the name “Richard McBeef” began making its rounds on the internet.
Now a question for the hivemind–does anyone know the history behind the name “Richard McBeef”? Since Cho’s other play, “Mr. Brownstone” is named after a Guns and Roses song, it seems sensible that McBeef would have similar origins. But several Google searches haven’t yielded anything.
So is this just some creepy coincidence, or what?
Maybe this is my cycnicism showing through, but, well….
it occurs to me that both Richard and McBeef could be references to dick.
McBeef = meat = dick.
*shrug*
I have no idea.
When a user on autoadmit changes his username, his username is updated in all past posts. That poster was probably not going by Richard McBeef at the time.
ahhhhh, I see. Well then, nevermind, I guess.
Do people refer to that poster as Richard McBeef in that thread?
